Today was the easy day on my 1/2 marathon training schedule...Yoga only. I started my day with 45 minutes of yoga. I use the apps "daily yoga for abs" (free) and "daily yoga for butt" ($.99).

I am certainly no Yogi. I have taken one beginners yoga course which was a great way to learn proper form but I tend to appreciate yoga more when relaxing in my own home. I love yoga for stretching, toning, learning proper breathing habits, Oh! and the preschooler in me loves that the poses are named after animals and fun things like sail boats..yay:].
I always create a calm and relaxing environment so I can look forward to yoga as a treat at the beginning or end of the day. On "yoga mornings" I brew some coffee, clean up my space, dim the lighting and open the screen door for fresh air. I then put on soft music and light some candles. If my head is fluttering with the 784 things I have to do that day I make a quick "to do" list so I can set aside the craziness. This morning I lathered on some organic lavender lotion. Yum, I adore the scent of lavender and it's proven to be soothing. I can't afford to go to a spa but at least I can pretend ;)
Django thinkin' he can do an expert "downward dog" and Maggie about to show me up at the "cat pose".
Aren't they cuties?
Now, I don't get in to all that Hindu nonsense. I end my yoga with some Jesus time.
Was that politically incorrect?
sorry, I'm not sorry.
After I finish, I have some quiet time...Prayer,reflection and reading (and more coffee ;] ). I'll be the first to admit, I often fail to have consistent quiet time even though I desire it. I need to spend daily time with my King...in the same way you would with a best friend or your spouse. It is a relationship that requires energy, time and nourishment...I cannot grow in my faith if I am not reading the word and acquiring more knowledge! Common sense. When I do start my day spending time with Jesus I am more focused on my purpose through out the day, am more joyful and at peace. Why as humans do we choose to neglect what we know is good for us?
Here's to starting your day in a lovely way
